Pool Remodels Orange County
Summer time is quickly approaching us here in the Orange County area and what better way to spend the summer then lounging around your newly renovated swimming pool. The winter and spring seasons are ideal times of year to give that old pool of yours a new modern face lift. TRU Landscape Services has been performing a vast amount of Orange County pool remodels in the last couple years now, primarily because of deteriorating/cracking pool plaster, outdated prefabed coping, coping separation, inefficient pool equipment, etc. These are just some of the more common trends we tend to see on a day to day basis. Orange County pool remodels can be as basic as re-plastering a failing pool surface to chipping out the existing coping, tile, plaster, and starting fresh from the gunite.

Orange County Pool Remodels Trends
The trends in design features among Orange County pools has vastly changed in the last 20-30 years. The 1970’s bullnose brick coping with white plaster combo has ran it’s course over the years. It’s time to give that pool a facelift it righteously deserves. Ditch the brick coping and incorporate a (PIP) poured in place concrete coping around the exterior perimeter of the pool. This area is poured separately from the pool to allow for fluctuation and ground settling. Customers typically choose either regular grey concrete, graphite, or San Diego buff. These colors are all provided within the Davis Color sheet. The concrete coping is poured and while concrete begins to dry, our masons spray a TOP-CAST retarder that doesn’t allow the cream in the cement to flow to the surface. Great idea around the pool from a safety stand point because it adds a grittier surface that helps prevent from a slippery surface. Once coping has been formed and poured, customer would then choose from one of the many tile selections to be installed. If there is more than one row of tile (typically elevated pool decks), customer can either request tile to extend all the way to the coping or choose to have a natural stacked stone installed from tile line up. This is a more decorative and modern approach when remodeling your existing pool. Last but not least, we need to get as far away from that white pool plaster as possible. The industry has been trending away from plaster for years now with the introduction of pebble tec, mini pebble, and pebble sheen pool finishes. Not only does a pebble sheen/pebble tec have a more elegant appearance to the eye, it’s a smoother texture and more natural looking type of pool surface. If that doesn’t sell you, keep in mind that a white plaster will typically last you from 5-7 years with normal maintenance while a mini pebble, pebble tec, or pebble sheen surface can last you anywhere from 15-20 years. Although the pebble surfaces will cost you more initially, the long term investment is well worth the extra buck or two.

Lets take that pool remodel the extra mile
Many times a customer asks what they can do to take their pool to the next level during an Orange County pool remodel. We have plenty of design techniques and options that can be integrated into an already existing pool to give you the curb appeal your looking for. Sheer descents are a great way to incorporate simple water features into an already existing pool design. They add great ambiance, soft tranquil sound, and helps to circulate water when pool motor isn’t functioning. Flowing spillways and water descents are a great way to add some elegance to an already existing pool structure. Another technique to revive a rather dull pool remodel is incorporating baja reefs (or baja shelfs) within the entry to the pool. These shelfs sit approximately 6-8″ below the waters surface and can be essentially any shape or size based on customer preference. Baja shelf’s are a great area for small children to play and for the adults to lounge while still being able to cool off. Many of our customers integrate custom umbrella holders within the shelf’s or even water bubbler’s. Water bubbler’s (or water chillers) displays moving water that bubbles at the top of the water surface. These bubbler’s also display colorful light sequences that can be powered to synchronize with your LED pool/spa lights. All of these features can powered via Bluethooth or WIFI with an upgrade to the existing panel.
